FPT Fluid Power Technology has designed and manufactured stainless steel cylinders and tools for the subsea applications
used for the oil & gas subsea production system.
A subsea production system provides a way to produce hydrocarbons from areas not economically or easily developed by the use of an offshore platform. The system makes use of a number of building blocks placed on the seabed which are connected to subsea pipeline networks and riser systems to safely and efficiently produce the reservoir to a host facility.
Cylinders are made in stainless steel: AISI316. 316 is an 18/8 austenitic stainless steel enhanced with an addition of 2.5% Molybdenum, to provide superior corrosion resistance to type 304 stainless steel. 316 has improved pitting corrosion resistance and has excellent resistance to sulphates, phosphates and other salts.
The maximum working pressure is 220 bar, for a force of 209Kn and a stroke of 200 mm. The dimensioning and the design of the cylinder is completely customized following the customer specifications. This specific job was done and installed in Congo. FPT is also able to design and produce stainless steel hand pumps and control units with both electric motor and air in stainless steel suitable for environments in contact with water or particularly aggressive.
